I reached my Master Degree in Physics of Fundamental Interactions at the University of Turin in September 2007 with the thesis:
"Messa a punto finale dei Calorimetri a Zero Gradi per l'esperimento ALICE"

My research activity is within the ALICE experiment. It will study the physics of strongly interacting matter at extreme energy densities, where the formation of a new phase of matter, the quark-gluon plasma, is expected.
In particular:
  • I am involved in the commissioning and calibration of the Zero Degree Calorimeters (ZDC). The ZDCs will provide the centrality trigger of the collision through the detection of the zero degree energy.
  • I am studying the possibility of identify diffractive events in proton-proton collisions at LHC using ZDCs.
  • I am implementing the Detector Control System (DCS) for the ZDCs.
