High Energy Experimental Particle Physics


I work in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva.

CMS is a general purpose detector which will take data with both p-p and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC accelerator at CERN.
It will study the production of particles at the highest energies ever achieved, up to the TeV (1012 eV) scale.
Among its main goals, the search for the Higgs boson, a particle supposed to be responsible for the mass of all the known elementary particles, and the exploration of possible New Physics beyond the Standard Model, the successful theory currently used to explain all the phenomenology of fundamental interactions.

Within the Compact Muon Solenoid Collaboration I'm currectly active in the:

  •  Tracker Alignment Group

    The excellent single point resolution of CMS Tracker together with its high granularity renders alignment a challenging task, which needs to aim micro-meter level precision. In the Tracker Alignment we are using the cosmic muon data collected during CMS global runs to perform and validate alignment via track-based statistical methods.
