A scientific symposium dedicated to Jean-Pierre Derendinger on the occasion of his 67th birthday
Jean-Pierre's research is focused on the development of supersymmetry and supergravity and their applications in physics of fundamental interactions. He has done pioneer work on the possible role of supersymmetry in particle physics, on the effective supergravity of string compactifications and on dynamical supersymmetry breaking. He created an active research group in the University of Neuchatel, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and as Rector. In 2008 he co-created the Albert Einstein Center at the University of Bern. Since his postdoc at the École normale supérieure, Jean-Pierre has maintained a privileged relationship with the Parisian institutes, featured by numerous long visits.
