(1) The weight fracions have been calculated assuming the typical volume fraction of 60% for the fibers in the composite with epoxy resin (a).
(2) The density of the pure fiber is 1.91 g/cm3. For the density of the cured composite, the value of 1.63 g/cm3 has been assumed. Other density values range from 1.53-1.59 to 1.75 g/cm3.
(3) The composition of the effectively used epoxy resin could not be found. Therefore, the composition of Epotek 301-1 was adopted for the calculation, imposing the density declared by the producer of the prepreg (COI epoxy) .
